Theft, loss and disaster are just a few reasons your jewelry could need to be replaced. Unfortunately, over the course of your lifetime, it's possible that at least one of these will happen to you. That's why so many people opt for a separate policy that insures jewelry. In order to have that policy, you must first have a jewelry appraisal.

The most important reason is for insurance purposes. Over the years, the value of your jewelry and gemstones can fluctuate greatly. If your last appraisal is over two years old it may be out-of-date and, as a result, your jewelry could be insured for less than its replacement value.

You are not covered for loss or damage unless you have your jewelry appraised and scheduled separately.

Written jewelry appraisals for insurance scheduling will generally cost:

$115 for the first item and $65 for each additional item.
